Friday Morning Flagpole

With today’s theme being “Broken Hearts Can Be Mended,” sports staff member Casey Price led our flagpole devotion this morning. Broken hearts often stem from the tragedy of losing someone or something near to us, but we should take comfort in the fact that God is with you wherever you go — “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9). God will always get you through whatever comes your way and we should pray for strength to endure. Overcoming struggles and broken hearts makes us stronger and gives us the ability to offer assistance when someone else is suffering.

Job is a great example of a man of God who suffered a broken heart when he lost his family and his belongings because he did not turn his back on God. Whenever you might have struggles like Job, think on the lyrics of “God is So Good” and remember that you always have a friend in God!
