With today’s theme being “Triumph Over Tragedy is Possible,” blue team captain David McGaughey led this morning’s devotion around the flagpole. He pointed out that something bad has happened to each of us, but we should take comfort in the fact that God is with us. Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” When we experience tragedy, we should lean on God, lean on His word, and lean on each other. In Nahum 1:7 we learn that the Lord is a stronghold and that things work together for good.
When we are going through difficult times, we need to realize that there is always someone going through something worse than us. Philippians 2:3,4 – “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” We should be an encouragement to each other and lean on our brothers and sisters in Christ. With each other’s help, with God, we truly can “triumph over tragedy.” Can you say to your brothers and sisters, “I got your back?”
