Monday’s Theme: Salvation Is Possible

Our overall camp theme this year is “Impossible is Nothing” (Luke 18:27), and our theme today was “Salvation is Possible…with God.”  After lunch, last year camper Jacob Stout led a devotion explaining how many things are impossible for mere men, but ALL things are possible with God. He spoke about how with God’s help, David, just a shepherd boy, was able to overcome the giant Goliath, but only with God’s help.

Following dinner this evening, Michael Stout led all the campers and staff in a discussion on how salvation is possible ONLY through God.

WHAT is salvation? The deliverance from the sin of this evil world and preservation in heaven.  Matthew 7:21 – “Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven.”

HOW can we obtain salvation? Only through Christ because of His great sacrifice. Acts 4:12 – “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

WHO can obtain salvation? Each and every one of us. Hebrews 5:9b – “[Jesus] became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him.”

WHY does God want us to obtain salvation? So we will not perish in hell, but rather enjoy a home in heaven. II Peter 3:9 – “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
