Mark & Rita Newton were in camp this morning! Mark led the morning Bible class on Born To Serve:
Opening question: What are some things we do as Christians? Praise God, Worship God, Serve God, Set an Example, Stand Out. We sing, pray to God & talk about God to others. We listen to & study God’s word.
Eph 2:10 – We were “created in Christ Jesus for Good Works” We were made for this reason.
Titus 2:14 – “Who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself his own special people, zealous for good works”
What do we get from serving others?
- Dose of reality – my problems are small
- Relationships/Networks
- Good Reputation (Read I Pet 2:12)
- Become like Jesus (Read Matt 20:28)
- Blessed in giving (Read Acts 20:35)
What others benefit from our service:
- The ones we help
- The church (Reputation)
- My Brethren (Read Gal 5:13)
- God is Glorified
So, why do we do so poorly with serving?
- Don’t see the needs? OPEN YOUR EYES (Read John 4:35)
- Too Many Distractions
- Lack of Love (Read Lk 10:33)
So, What are we to do?
- Open our eyes
- Have Compassion (Matt 7:12)
- Live the Plan
So go to have Mark and Rita back at camp. They both live, walk, share, love, help, teach, the words of our Lord. I’m blessed to be able to call them my friends; my sister and brother in Christ.
